The New York State Museum, New York, located on the Madison Avenue is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the US. New York State Museum, New York houses art, artifacts, both pre-historic and historic and several eco-facts that reflect New York State’s cultural, natural, and geological development.
The New York State Museum is the nation’s oldest and largest state museum. Formerly located in the State Education Building, the New York State Museum at New York now occupies the first 4 floors of the Cultural Education Center and is a 10 storey building that also houses the New York State Archives and New York State Library.
With regard to the layout of New York State Museum, there are a number of galleries and halls on the 1st floor that includes various art collections. Presentations and lectures are held in the Museum Theater, which is located near the West Gallery. There is a student center, located behind the museum’s main lobby.
The 2nd floor mainly contains education and youth services areas. The Division of Research and Collections and the Exhibits Division is situated on the 3rd floor. New York State Museum contains the museum’s café area, a functioning carousel built between the years 1912 and 1916 and supplementary exhibits covering regional topics and several historic cities of New York.
Visitors travel to the New York State Museum, New York to see several geological samples, paleontology specimens, historic materials and art. Among the permanent exhibits, there comes, The Adirondack Wilderness, Ancient Life of New York, Birds of New York, carousel and Cohoes Mastodon. The New York State Museum also offers approximately 12 new exhibitions each year on a wide range of subjects.
