Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona is one of the United States’ oldest national parks and a major tourist attraction. The Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona includes the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is considered to be one of the major natural wonders of the world.
The Grand Canyon National Park attracts nearly 5 million people every year. The Park is about 1 mile deep. You can see the Park from your car that overlooks along the South Rim. The South Rim is the most accessible part of the park and remains open throughout the year.
Compared to this, a much smaller number of people see the Canyon from the North Rim, which lies just 10 miles or 16 km directly across the Canyon from the South Rim. The North Rim rises a 1, 000 feet higher than the South Rim, and is less accessible than its southern counterpart.
The famous Grand Canyon National Park has the Canyon that includes everything below the rim and is seen mainly by hikers, mule riders, and river runners. The area around the Grand Canyon has become a national monument on January 11, 1908 and was later designated as a national park on February 26, 1919.
